Splash 1 - Beginner

 

  • Wash face with water

  • Blow bubbles at the water surface

  • Kick 3m on front with woggle, chin low to the water

  • Kick 3m on back with woggle, ears close to the water.

  • Blow object 3m across the pool

  • Perform a floating shape on front or back with woggle

  • Child exits the pool independently

Splash 2 - Beginner
 

  • Perform a safe entry into the pool

  • Submerge the face with confidence

  • Push object with nose for 3m

  • Kick on front 3m with 1-2 floats, face and ears submerged

  • Kick on back 3m with 1-2 floats with ears submerged

  • Perform a floating position on front or back with 1-2 floats, ears in water

Splash 3 - Advanced
 

  • Jump into pool at a minimum depth of 0.8m with aided help from instructor

  • Submerge/sink underwater

  • Blow bubbles 3 times to a rhythm

  • Kick on front 5m with 1 float. Arms extended and squeezing behind ears

  • Kick on back 5m with 1 float extended over legs

  • Star float on front/back with no floats but instructor support

Splash 4 - Advanced

 

  • Jump in unaided, but supervised into the water

  • Show a mushroom or star float (Regain standing position)

  • Kick 5m on front in a rocket shape (breathing optional)

  • Kick 5m on back, hands by side, flat body position

  • Introduction to Frontcrawl (3m)

  • Hold a rocket shape in the water on front, flat body position

Wave

Wave 1
 

  • Enter the water safely

  • Swim on Front for a distance of 5 metres (Frontcrawl)

  • Swim on Back for a distance of 5 metres (Backstroke)

  • Move sideways for distance of 5 metres

  • Scoop the water and wash face

  • Be at ease with water showered from overhead

  • Move into a stretched floating position using aids,equipment or support

  • Regain an upright position from on the back with support

  • Regain an upright position from on the front with support

  • Push and glide in a horizontal position to or from a wall

  • Take part in a teacher-led partner orientated game

  • Demonstrate an understanding of pool rules

  • Exit the water safely

Wave 2
 

  • Jump in from poolside safely (Without assistance)

  • Blow bubbles a minimum of three times rhythmically with nose and mouth submerged

  • Regain upright position from the back without support

  • Regain an upright position from the front without support

  • Push from wall and glide on the back in a streamline position

  • Push from wall and glide on the front in a streamline position

  • Travel on the back for 5 metres, flat body position, feet elevated to the surface (Backstroke)

  • Travel on the front for 5 metres, must show breathing (Frontcrawl)

  • Perform a rotation from the front to the back to gain an upright position

  • Perform a rotation from the back to the front to gain an upright position

Wave 3
 

  • Jump in from poolside and submerge (min depth 0.9m) With or Without goggles

  • Sink, push away from wall on side and maintain a streamlined position

  • Push and glide on the front with arms extended and log roll onto the back

  • Push and glide on the back with arms extended and log roll onto the front

  • Travel on the front, tuck to rotate around the horizontal axis to return on the back.

  • Fully submerge to pick up an object

  • Answer correctly three questions on the Water Safety Code

  • Travel 10 metres on the back*

  • Travel 10 metres on the front*

  • No goggle, jump in and fetch object (1.5m depth)

  • 5 meters Breaststroke (simultaneous legs)

  • 5 meters Butterfly (simultaneous legs)


*. Must be a straight arm recovery on the Backstroke
*. Must be bilateral breathing every 3 stroke count on Front crawl

Wave 4
 

  • Demonstrate 3 dolphin kicks underwater either on front or back following a push and glide

  • Demonstrate 10m Frontcrawl kick in a streamlined position. (Rocket shape)

  • Demonstrate 10m Backstroke kick in a streamlined position. (Rocket shape)

  • Swim 10m Frontcrawl or Backstroke (Following FINA Stroke Rules)

  • Demonstrate 10m Breaststroke kick on the Front (with or without equipment, following FINA Stroke Rules)

  • Demonstrate 10m Butterfly kick on the Front (following FINA Stroke Rules)

  • Swim 10m Breaststroke or Butterfly (Following FINA Stroke Rules)

  • Demonstrate the HELP position

  • Perform a series of 3 floating shapes including a tuck float

  • Treadwater for 30 seconds

Wave 5
 

  • Demonstrate 3 different shape jumps into the water (recommended depth of 1.5m)

  • Demonstrate 15m Frontcrawl following the FINA stroke rules

  • Demonstrate 15m Backstroke following the FINA stroke rules

  • Swim 10m Breaststroke following the FINA stroke rules

  • Swim 10m Butterfly following the FINA stroke rules

  • Swim 25m Choice of stroke

  • Demonstrate a sculling action in the water for 30 seconds

  • Tread water for 30 seconds, then in to the action for getting help.

  • Perform a Handstand for 5 seconds.

  • Perform a forward roll in the water.

Wave 6
 

  • Answer 3 questions to show an understanding of preparation of exercise

  • Demonstrate an underwater push and glide with 3 dolphin kicks into 20m Frontcrawl (Following FINA stroke rules)

  • Demonstrate an underwater push and glide with 3 dolphin kicks into 20m Backstroke (Following FINA stroke rules)

  • Swim 15m Breaststroke (Following FINA Stroke Rules)

  • Swim 15m Butterfly (Following FINA Stroke Rules)

  • Swim 50m-25m Backstroke/Frontcrawl and 25m Breaststroke/Butterfly

  • Swim 25m without goggles

  • Demonstrate a ‘shout and signal’ action

  • Perform a head first surface dive, in water of full reach depth

  • Perform a sitting dive (Min depth 1.5m

  • Demonstrate a backward somersault in water
